We will make plans for our activities this summer and develop ideas for our community service project.  Arline Borchers and Kayte Elsea will have the program called “Fun Night”.  Only they know for sure what is going to happen.

April Activities

April will be a busy month for the club as we have several activities to complete.  The club has agreed to take over the maintenance of the Jim the Wonder Dog Park for the summer.  This means that in addition to getting the water garden ready we will need to clean up the rest of the park as well.  We are scheduling the first work day on April 8 at 10 am.  Depending on the weather, we will either clean the water garden or work on the park.  A second work day will be decided at our March meeting.

We will also clean up the golf course water garden this spring since it will be on the water garden tour in June.  This is our community service project from last year.

Our community service project for this year will be to remodel the water garden at Butterfield Youth Services.  We will install a filtering system and build a waterfall around the new biofalls.  The landscaping around the water garden will be improved.

2006 Public Water Garden Tour

Plans are developing for our 2006 public water garden tour to be held on June 25.  In addition to the usual tour of ponds, we will also have a plant sale by local nurseries with a 10% discount for tour ticket holders.

Demonstrations will be featured on such subjects as:

How to build a water garden

How to make a homemade filtering system

Making concrete garden art

Other educational exhibits
