JUNE MEETING

Our June activity will be the dedication of the water garden at the Indian Foothills Golf Course on Saturday, June 18 at 12:30 pm.  This water garden was built by the club with funds from the club and a memorial fund for Earl Twillman.  Earl was a long time volunteer at the golf course and was instrumental in getting the expanded golf course at the park.  Members of his family will be present at the dedication on the 18th.  The club is providing a memorial plaque in his honor at the water garden in addition to the plaque that states that the water garden is a community service of the Saline County Water Garden Club.

This water garden was started last fall to the point of completing the pond, stream, and filtering system.  This spring we completed the landscaping around the water garden and put in the little boy golfer, the golf tee on top of the bio-falls, and the golf flag pole fountain in the middle of the water garden.  We think this water garden is unique and well suited for the location.

Pictures of the water garden are included with this newsletter and additional pictures are available on our website www.finsandfriends.com.  You need to see the water garden in person to really appreciate the beauty of it.  Many club members worked on this garden last fall and this spring.

We would like to have a good representation of club members at the dedicationWear your club shirt if you have one.  If you have not seen the water garden yet, this would be a good opportunity to see it.

July Activity

Our July activity will be a members only pond tour in Macon, Missouri on Sunday, July 24.  We will meet in Macon at 12 noon for lunch.  Our host Richard Fuller will provide lunch.  Members will be asked to contribute toward the cost of the meal.  After lunch we will visit 5 or 6 water gardens in the Macon area.  Watch for details on this activity in the July issue of Fins and Friends.  Mark the date on your calendar.  This should be an opportunity to see some different water gardens and enjoy the company of our club members.  We especially encourage the members who live in the area of Columbia and Jefferson City to attend.
